Tabaloss Tunnel Project in the Philippines

Tabaloss Tunnel Project in the Philippines

Background
As the core of the Philippines’ North-South Transport Corridor, the 12.4km Taburos Tunnel (longest in SEA) required a power network covering 36 worksites, 7 TBMs, and 23 emergency shelters. Critical challenges included:

  1. Extreme Corrosion: 800m from coastline, salt fog >5mg/m³ (exceeding IEC 60721-3-4 CX class), reducing equipment lifespan to <5 years;

  2. Dynamic Load Impact: TBM start/stop caused ±40% voltage fluctuations with severe harmonics (11th harmonic >12%);

  3. Regulatory Conflicts: Compliance with Philippine PEC 3-2018 explosion-proof, IEC 62271 arc resistance, and Chinese GB 3906 thermal limits (17 design conflicts).
    As sole medium-voltage integrator, SH Power delivered a full solution from 10kV intake to 0.4kV terminals, commissioning 156 units within 18-month typhoon window.

As a key equipment supplier for the project, SH Power provides the following products and services:
