Description

A box-type substation, also known as a prefabricated substation, is a factory-built assembly that integrates high-voltage switchgear, power transformer, low-voltage switchgear, energy-metering equipment, reactive-power compensation devices, auxiliary equipment and interconnections inside a single metallic or non-metallic enclosure. It offers small footprint, minimal land use, the possibility of siting close to the load center, easy transport, simple installation and short energization time. These features make it especially suitable for public building complexes, residential quarters, scenic tourist spots and urban roadways where loads are small and geographically dispersed.
